Does this work for decks exported from Google Slides or Keynote?

Yes — as long as the file is a standard .pptx, the tool reads its own text and shape data directly.

Will embedded images and charts carry over?

Images and static shapes are rebuilt from the file's own data; the free preview shows exactly what will and won't convert cleanly.

Why would I need this instead of PDF → InDesign?

If you still have the original .pptx, working from it directly — rather than a PDF export of it — usually preserves more editable structure.
