Terms of Service — SourceBack

⚠️ TEMPLATE — not legal advice. This is a starting draft for a UK-based, self-serve file-conversion service. Replace every [PLACEHOLDER] and have a solicitor review it before you rely on it. Last updated: 2 July 2026.

Operator: [LEGAL NAME / COMPANY NAME] ([COMPANY NUMBER, if a company]), [REGISTERED ADDRESS] ("SourceBack", "we", "us"). Contact: [CONTACT EMAIL].

By uploading a file or paying for a download you agree to these Terms.

1. What SourceBack does

SourceBack converts a file you upload (e.g. a PDF, or an image) into an editable source file (e.g. InDesign IDML, PowerPoint, Word, SVG, or a font) and lets you preview the result before paying. The conversion is automated and deterministic — there is no human review of your files and no manual editing.

2. Preview, payment and refunds

store your card details.

quality before buying, sales are final and non-refundable except where required by law, or at our discretion if a download was charged but never delivered due to a fault on our side. [CONFIRM your refund stance + UK consumer law: digital content bought after an express request to supply immediately.]

browser. Credits [do / do not] expire. Keep the token safe — anyone with it can spend the credits, and we cannot recover a lost token.

3. Your files and content

produce and preview your output, and to store the result briefly so you can download it. See the Privacy Policy for retention (files and outputs auto-delete within 12 hours) and our commitment never to reuse your content.

(you own it or are licensed to). You must not upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or that you are not permitted to process.

4. Acceptable use

Don't: break the law; upload malware or attempt to attack, overload, probe, or reverse-engineer the service; bypass usage/rate limits; resell or white-label the service without our written permission; or upload others' confidential or personal data without a lawful basis. We may rate-limit, refuse, or block use to protect the service.

5. Output quality — "as is"

Conversion quality depends on the input. SourceBack shows a confidence/fidelity signal and preview so you can judge before paying, and clearly declines files it can't recover (e.g. flat scans). Beyond that, output is provided "as is": we don't warrant it will be pixel-perfect, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose. Fonts are referenced by name, not embedded — install the originals for an exact match. Check every output before relying on it.

6. Availability

We aim to keep the service available but provide it without uptime guarantees, and may change, suspend, or withdraw features. It may be unavailable for maintenance.

7. Liability

Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law (e.g. death or personal injury from negligence, or fraud). Subject to that, to the maximum extent permitted by law: we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, profit, or goodwill; and our total liability arising from your use of the service is limited to the greater of [£50] or the amount you paid us in the [3] months before the claim. [Confirm cap with your solicitor.]

8. Privacy

Our handling of your data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

9. Changes and termination

We may update these Terms; the current version is always at this URL and applies to new uploads/purchases. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
